Since my last interaction with file sharing programs I haven’t installed any BitTorrent program in my pc because I didn’t want to fill it with all that jazz, but today I was in need of a certain font called Iron Monger Extra Condense for Miami rapper Colosus, a client who wished to have his design look like the text from the movie “Carlito’s Way” with Al Pacino.
After a little Googling I found out that Iron Monger Extra Condensed is a commercial font and cost $40. I wasn’t planning to use it in the future so I scoured the internet for free fonts, but all I was able to find was a torrent containing the font file.
I didn’t have a Torrent program installed so I Google the term “online torrent program” and Eureka! I found a website who offers this service called BitLet.
BitLet uses a java applet that works with your browser so there’s no need to install any programs.
All you have to do is copy the torrent meta-file URL, paste it in the form, and press Download torrent. So if you’re away from your workstation and need to check download a torrent you might want to check that out.
Unfortunately, the the file was created by a novice who encoded it containing over 30,000 fonts which most of them didn’t work including the one I needed, so I had to create the fonts myself.
Never the less. The service is a great shortcut.
